#HeungGukSa #Temple #흥국사 Heungguksa Temple is located at the southeastern foot of Mt Hanmisan, and is a branch temple of Yongjusa Temple, the second diocese of the Korean Buddhist Jogye Order It was founded in 661 (the 1st year of King Munmu's reign) under the name of Heungseongam by Wonhyo, the greatest monk of the time King Yeongjo, the 21st king of the Joseon Dynasty, stopped by here on his way to Soryeongwon, the tomb of his mother, Choi, changed the name of the temple to Heungguksa Temple, where he wrote the Script of "Yaksajeon" himself (an unusual temple centered on a pharmacist Buddha) 흥국사는 한미산 남동쪽 기슭에 있는 사찰로 대한불교조계종 제2교구 본사 용주사(龍珠寺)의 말사이다 661년(신라 문무왕 1) 당대 최고의 고승 원효대사가 흥성암(興聖庵)이란 이름으로 창건한 유서 깊은 사찰이다 조선 제21대 왕 영조가 자신의 생모 숙빈 최씨(淑嬪崔氏)의 묘소인 소령원(昭寧園)에 행차하는 길에 이곳에 들러 묵었으며 이때 절 이름을 흥국사로 바꾸게 하고 직접 약사전의 편액 글씨를 써서 하사하였다 (약사전이 중심인 특이한 사찰)
