시삭이 예루살렘을 공격하다 [대하]12:1 르호보암은 강한 왕이 되고 나라도 견고하게 세웠습니다 그러자 온 이스라엘 백성은 여호와의 가르침을 저버리기 시작했습니다 [대하]12:2 르호보암이 왕으로 있은 지 오 년째 되던 해에 이집트의 왕 시삭이 예루살렘에 쳐들어왔습니다 그 일이 일어난 까닭은 르호보암과 백성이 여호와를 따르지 않았기 때문입니다 [대하]12:3 시삭은 전차 천이백 대와 기마병 육만 명을 거느리고 왔습니다 그는 셀 수도 없이 많은 리비아와 숙과 에티오피아의 군대를 이끌고 이집트에서 쳐들어왔습니다 [대하]12:4 시삭은 유다의 요새들을 점령하고, 예루살렘까지 진격했습니다 [대하]12:5 그 때에 예언자 스마야가, 시삭을 두려워해서 예루살렘에 모여 있던 르호보암과 유다의 지도자들에게 왔습니다 스마야가 그들에게 말했습니다 "여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하셨소 '너희가 나를 저버렸으니 나도 너희를 버려 너희를 시삭에게 넘겨 주겠다 '" [대하]12:6 그러자 유다의 지도자들과 르호보암 왕이 잘못을 뉘우치고 말했습니다 "여호와께서는 옳은 일만 하십니다 " [대하]12:7 여호와께서는 그들이 자기 잘못을 뉘우치는 모습을 보시고, 스마야에게 말씀하셨습니다 "왕과 지도자들이 잘못을 뉘우치고 있으므로, 그들을 멸망시키지 않고 곧 구해 주겠다 시삭을 시켜 예루살렘을 멸망시키지는 않겠다 [대하]12:8 그러나 예루살렘 백성은 시삭의 종이 될 것이다 그래야 그들은 나를 섬기는 것과 다른 나라의 왕들을 섬기는 것이 어떻게 다른지 알게 될 것이다 " [대하]12:9 이집트의 왕 시삭은 예루살렘을 공격하여 여호와의 성전과 왕궁에서 보물을 빼앗아 갔습니다 그는 하나도 남김없이 다 털어 갔습니다 솔로몬이 만든 금방패까지 다 가져갔습니다 [대하]12:10 그래서 르호보암 왕은 금방패 대신에 놋방패를 만들어서 왕궁 문을 지키는 사람들에게 주었습니다 [대하]12:11 왕이 여호와의 성전에 들어갈 때마다 경호원들이 그 방패들을 가지고 갔다가, 일이 끝나면 다시 경호실에 놓아 두었습니다 [대하]12:12 르호보암이 잘못을 뉘우치자, 여호와께서 분노를 거두셨습니다 그래서 르호보암을 완전히 멸망시키지는 않으셨습니다 유다는 그래도 형편이 좋았습니다 [대하]12:13 르호보암 왕은 예루살렘에서 강한 왕이 되었습니다 그는 사십일 세에 왕이 되어, 십칠 년 동안, 예루살렘에서 왕으로 지냈습니다 예루살렘은 여호와께서 예배를 받으시려고, 이스라엘 모든 지파 가운데서 뽑으신 성입니다 르호보암의 어머니는 암몬 사람 나아마입니다 [대하]12:14 르호보암은 무슨 일을 할 때든지 여호와의 뜻을 여쭈어 보지 않고 악한 일을 했습니다 [대하]12:15 르호보암이 한 일은 처음부터 끝까지, 예언자 스마야와 선견자 잇도가 쓴 역사책에 적혀 있습니다 르호보암과 여로보암 사이에는 늘 전쟁이 있었습니다 [대하]12:16 르호보암이 죽어 다윗 성에 묻히고, 르호보암의 아들 아비야가 왕이 되었습니다 1After Rehoboam's position as king was established and he had become strong, he and all Israel with him abandoned the law of the LORD 2Because they had been unfaithful to the LORD, Shishak king of Egypt attacked Jerusalem in the fifth year of King Rehoboam 3With twelve hundred chariots and sixty thousand horsemen and the innumerable troops of Libyans, Sukkites and Cushites that came with him from Egypt, 4he captured the fortified cities of Judah and came as far as Jerusalem 5Then the prophet Shemaiah came to Rehoboam and to the leaders of Judah who had assembled in Jerusalem for fear of Shishak, and he said to them, "This is what the LORD says, 'You have abandoned me; therefore, I now abandon you to Shishak ' " 6The leaders of Israel and the king humbled themselves and said, 'The LORD is just ' 7When the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, this word of the LORD came to Shemaiah: 'Since they have humbled themselves, I will not destroy them but will soon give them deliverance My wrath will not be poured out on Jerusalem through Shishak 8They will, however, become subject to him, so that they may learn the difference between serving me and serving the kings of other lands ' 9When Shishak king of Egypt attacked Jerusalem, he carried off the treasures of the temple of the LORD and the treasures of the royal palace He took everything, including the gold shields Solomon had made 10So King Rehoboam made bronze shields to replace them and assigned these to the commanders of the guard on duty at the entrance to the royal palace 11Whenever the king went to the LORD's temple, the guards went with him, bearing the shields, and afterward they returned them to the guardroom 12Because Rehoboam humbled himself, the LORD's anger turned from him, and he was not totally destroyed Indeed, there was some good in Judah 13King Rehoboam established himself firmly in Jerusalem and continued as king He was forty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel in which to put his Name His mother's name was Naamah; she was an Ammonite 14He did evil because he had not set his heart on seeking the LORD 15As for the events of Rehoboam's reign, from beginning to end, are they not written in the records of Shemaiah the prophet and of Iddo the seer that deal with genealogies? There was continual warfare between Rehoboam and Jeroboam 16Rehoboam rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David And Abijah his son succeeded him as king
